Role Summary

We’re looking for an Automation Test Engineer to join The Desktop’s growing QA team. You’ll start with manual testing but quickly transition to automation, helping to build a robust framework for ensuring application quality across backend, frontend, and APIs. You’ll work closely with developers and stakeholders to shape and execute testing strategies that guarantee secure, performant, and bug-free releases.

You must be hands-on, self-motivated, and confident in both functional and non-functional testing. If you're someone who values quality, ownership, and enjoys continuously improving testing processes, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform manual testing while transitioning to automated test practices
• Design, write, and maintain automated tests using Playwright and other tools
• Conduct API testing and security testing using OWASP ZAP
• Work closely with developers and product owners to define test strategies and sign-off criteria
• Document and manage test cases using JIRA
• Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines
• Ensure production readiness through comprehensive functional and non-functional testing
• Provide feedback and suggestions to improve test effectiveness and efficiency

• 5+ years in software testing (manual and automated)
• Strong experience with Playwright and other testing frameworks
• Can work independently (no dedicated test lead)
• Practical experience prioritized over formal education
• Open to candidates with transferable testing experience
