Overview:
We are looking for an experienced professional to take on the role of Head of Permitting. This position is responsible for managing and optimizing the permitting process for fiber network deployment projects. The ideal candidate will bring strategic oversight, deep familiarity with US telecom regulations, and strong leadership in driving project execution across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of the permitting strategy, ensuring alignment with business and project goals
- Oversee permit acquisition activities at local, state, and federal levels across US jurisdictions
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including those of the FCC, state utility commissions, and local zoning boards
- Supervise and guide the permitting team to meet deadlines and project milestones
- Collaborate with clients, internal teams, government entities, and external stakeholders to resolve permit-related issues
- Monitor developments in telecom permitting regulations and integrate compliance updates into operational workflows
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation of all permitting activities
- Proactively identify potential risks related to permitting and develop strategies to mitigate delays
- Improve permitting workflows through the introduction of digital tools, automation, and process refinements
- Support team development through mentoring, training, and performance management
Candidate Qualifications:
- Minimum of seven years of experience in permitting and regulatory compliance
- At least three to five years of direct experience handling telecom permitting in the mainland United States
- Demonstrated success in acquiring permits for complex infrastructure projects within the US
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local telecom permitting processes and compliance frameworks
- Familiarity with permitting and project management tools such as MS Project, AutoCAD, GIS applications, and permit tracking systems
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage external relationships and internal coordination
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred
- Certifications in project or environmental management are an advantage
- Proven leadership experience, particularly in managing geographically dispersed teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly adaptable and capable of working in a fast-paced, remote work environment
