Job Summary


The Site Engineer / Quantity Surveyor plays a critical dual role in the successful delivery of design-and-build projects. This position is responsible for both on-site execution, coordination, and supervision as well as cost control, quantity take-offs, cost estimations and financial monitoring of projects from pre-construction to turnover.

For our company Q Builders, this role requires someone who is hands-on, adaptable, and proactive, capable of wearing multiple hats while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and accountability. The ideal candidate can coordinate with designers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and clients while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved plans and specifications.



Key Responsibilities

A. Site Engineering & Construction Management

  • Supervise daily construction activities and ensure works are executed according to approved plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and project managers to ensure smooth site operations.
  • Monitor project schedules and assist in preparing and updating work programs and timelines.
  • Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
  • Identify construction issues, design conflicts, or site constraints and recommend practical solutions.
  • Prepare daily site reports, progress reports, and documentation (photos, logs, punch lists).
  • Ensure proper implementation of construction methodologies and best practices.
  • Assist in project turnover, punch listing, and defect rectification.



B. Quantity Surveying & Cost Control

  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
  • Assist in preparing project budgets, cost plans, and bill of quantities (BOQ).
  • Monitor project costs versus budget and report any variances or risks.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations and assist in procurement decisions.
  • Prepare material requests, purchase requests, and track deliveries to site.
  • Review subcontractor progress billings, verify quantities, and recommend payments.
  • Prepare progress billing statements, variation orders, and cost impact analyses.
  • Assist in final account preparation and project cost close-out.



C. Coordination & Documentation

  • Coordinate closely with the design team to ensure constructability and cost efficiency.
  • Assist in contract administration, including scope clarifications and change management.
  • Maintain organized project records including drawings, RFIs, change orders, and correspondences.
  • Attend site meetings, coordination meetings, and client meetings as required.
  • Support management in improving internal systems, templates, and workflows suitable for a growing start-up.



Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Licensed Civil Engineer is an advantage but not required.
  • Minimum 1 to 2** years** experience in construction, design-and-build, or related field.
  • Experience in both site supervision and quantity surveying is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of local construction practices, suppliers, and subcontractors in the Philippines.



Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing.
  • Proficient in quantity take-offs and cost estimation.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, MEP, and shop drawings.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Excel, and basic project management tools.
  • Strong coordination, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work on-site, extended hours, or multiple project locations when required.

D. Administrative, Office & Support Functions

  • Assist in basic administrative tasks related to projects and office operations, especially during lean periods or early-stage projects.
  • Help prepare internal reports, trackers, summaries, and presentations for management and clients.
  • Maintain and update project trackers including manpower, materials, equipment, and progress monitoring sheets.
  • Coordinate with accounting/admin team on submission of required documents such as delivery receipts, billing backups, accomplishment reports, and cost summaries.
  • Assist in processing permits, clearances, site access passes, and coordination with building administration, LGUs, or mall management when required.
  • Support procurement and inventory monitoring, including simple stock tracking of materials, tools, and site equipment.
  • Help improve and standardize internal templates, forms, and workflows (BOQs, cost trackers, site reports, RFIs, etc.).
  • Perform other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to support company operations, project delivery, and overall efficiency.



Reporting Line

  • Reports directly to the Project Manager / Managing Partner
