The Philippine subsidiary of a Japanese Construction giant, a major Japanese general contractor (“Zenekon”), engaged in building construction, civil engineering, and EPC projects. The company delivers large-scale industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects with Japanese-quality engineering and strong technical expertise.


The client is part of a top-tier Japanese general contractor with global operations.

In the Philippines, it performs an essential role in supporting both private and public sector developments through high-quality Japanese engineering standards.

  • Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC): Handles EPC contracts for industrial and large-scale development projects, offering:
  • Engineering design
  • Procurement of materials and equipment
  • Construction and project execution
  • Quality and safety management


Background:

The Client is currently outsourcing part of its legal and contract-related work. To strengthen internal governance and efficiency, the company is transitioning these functions in-house. We are seeking an experienced Paralegal who can independently manage corporate legal tasks and support the internal legal structure.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Management:
  • Draft, review, and revise various types of commercial contracts, agreements, and legal documents
  • Ensure accuracy, compliance with applicable laws, and alignment with company policies
  • Identify legal risks and propose appropriate mitigation measures
  • Legal Compliance & Corporate Documentation:
  • Provide support for corporate legal matters, including compliance, regulatory filings, and internal documentation
  • Interpret relevant laws (especially within civil law and corporate law) and offer guidance to internal stakeholders
  • Maintain updated records of legal documents, contracts, and regulatory submissions
  • Internal Support & Guidance:
  • Provide legal advice and basic training to junior staff within the legal or administrative team
  • Serve as an internal resource for clarifying legal processes, contract terms, and compliance requirements
  • Coordinate with external counsel only when needed, ensuring efficient communication and cost control
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with project, procurement, HR, and management teams on legal requirements related to operations and construction projects
  • Support tender documents, subcontractor agreements, and industry-specific requirements


Requirements:

  • Can join as soon as possible
  • Bachelor’s degree in Laws or related courses
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate legal affairs, paralegal work, or contract management
  • Preferably worked in a corporate setting rather than exclusively in a law firm
  • Strong understanding of civil law, contract law, and corporate governance
  • Experience in the construction, engineering, or related industries is highly preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must be organized, proactive, and capable of handling sensitive and confidential information
