Position Summary

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial operations. This role takes ownership of key month-end close processes and requires thorough experience with US GAAP. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, the position leads all aspects of accounts receivable, from invoicing and cash application to collections and revenue reconciliation. The role works cross-functionally with the Sales department to ensure accurate billing, timely payments, and resolution of discrepancies.

This role is suited for someone who thrives in details, takes responsibility for the quality of work, and approaches tasks with urgency and follow-through. The candidate will validate source documents, question inconsistencies, and seek to fully understand the purpose behind each process.

Responsibilities

• Financial Closing: Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation and analysis of journal entries to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Accounts Receivable Ownership: Lead the end-to-end AR process, including invoicing, cash application, collections, and AR aging management.
• AR Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliation of accounts receivable by matching invoice amounts to cash collected. Identify and resolve unmatched transactions, unapplied payments, or discrepancies.
• Process Improvement: Drive improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity within the accounting function.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams to ensure cohesive workflows.
• Revenue Reconciliation: Reconcile deferred and unbilled revenues monthly to support accurate revenue recognition.
• Billing Accuracy: Review closed deals and coordinate with the Sales team to ensure proper billing and policy adherence.
• Collection Strategy: Lead proactive collection efforts, manage outreach, track commitments, and facilitate weekly collection meetings.
• Cash Application: Accurately apply customer payments, manage unmatched cash entries, and resolve overpayments.
• Cross-Departmental Support: Act as a liaison with the Sales team to address billing inquiries and align expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• At least 2 years of US company accounting experience
• Strong proficiency in US GAAP, including billing, revenue recognition, and close procedures
• Excellent communication skills for resolving discrepancies and collaborating across teams
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including automation and data reconciliation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines
