Senior Accountant (Project-Based)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support a defined accounting project involving reconciliations, loan accounting, and documentation. This role requires strong technical accounting skills, hands-on experience with Xero or similar systems, and the ability to document processes that will later be formalized into standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working independently while meeting project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead bank and general ledger reconciliations
• Review, research, and post accounting transactions using Xero or similar accounting systems
• Support loan-related accounting activities, including disbursements, payments, and account allocations
• Assist with month-end and quarter-end close tasks related to the project
• Identify discrepancies, research root causes, and recommend corrective actions
• Prepare schedules, reports, and supporting documentation for reviews or audits
• Ensure all work is accurately documented and clearly communicated
• Develop and document procedures to support future SOP creation

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong experience navigating and posting transactions in Xero or similar accounting platforms
• Proven background in bank and general ledger reconciliations
• Solid understanding of loan accounting
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Strong documentation skills with experience contributing to SOP development
• Proficiency in Excel and other financial tools
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field
• CPA preferred
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role
