JOB PURPOSE:

The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the cloud infrastructure that supports the organization's IT systems and applications. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies, automation tools, and DevOps practices. The Cloud Engineer will work closely with other IT teams to ensure that the cloud infrastructure is secure, reliable, and scalable.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Cloud Infrastructure Design and Implementation

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure solutions that meet the organization's business requirements.

  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation to automate infrastructure provisioning and management.

  • Collaborate with application development teams to ensure seamless integration of applications with the cloud infrastructure.

  • Stay abreast of the latest cloud technologies and trends to continuously improve the organization's cloud infrastructure.

• Cloud Infrastructure Security and Compliance

  • Implement and maintain security controls and policies to protect the organization's cloud infrastructure from unauthorized access and threats.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations, such as data privacy and security requirements.

  • Work closely with security teams to monitor and respond to security incidents.

  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.

• Delivery of secured IT Services responsive to business requirements

  • Monitor the performance and availability of cloud infrastructure to ensure optimal uptime and user experience.

  • Implement and maintain monitoring and logging solutions to proactively identify and resolve performance issues.

  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in the event of a cloud infrastructure outage.

  • Optimize cloud resource utilization to minimize costs and improve efficiency.

• Compliance to IT Policies & Processes

  • Develop and implement automation solutions to streamline cloud infrastructure operations and reduce manual effort.

  • Champion DevOps practices and tools to foster collaboration and efficiency between development and operations teams.

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment and delivery of applications to the cloud.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the cloud infrastructure team.

• Skills acquisition and application

  • Identify skills gaps and acquire these skills through training or apprenticeship to effectively support operating requirements.

  • Effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Collaborate effectively with other IT teams, business stakeholders, and vendors.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

  • Actively participate in knowledge sharing and documentation efforts.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THE ROLE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer engineering, or in related field in information technology.

• With five or more years of related experience in similar roles.

• With experience in AWS, GCP and AZURE.

• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), including the ability to adapt style to a nontechnical audience.

• Proactive and detail-oriented, strong analytical skills, and the ability to leverage a data-driven approach

• Willing to share expertise and best practices, including mentoring and coaching others.

• Continuous learning mindset, keen to learn and explore new areas.

• Ability to present solutions, defend criticism of ideas, and provide constructive peer reviews.

• Ability to build consensus, make decisions based on many variables and gain support for initiatives.
