The Client

A fast-growing startup specializing in a booking and payment platform for hair salons and similar service-based businesses. Our platform streamlines customer management, staff rostering, and payments while delivering an intuitive mobile experience. 

The Role

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the infrastructure for our application. You will work closely with the PHP Laravel and Flutter engineering teams and the Project Manager to optimize performance, security, and scalability. You will also manage AWS cloud services, automate deployments, and improve CI/CD pipelines using Codemagic and other tools. Your expertise will be crucial in refining the existing infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage the AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security.
• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for PHP Laravel and Flutter applications using Codemagic, GitHub Actions, and AWS CodePipeline.
• Automate deployment processes for backend services, APIs, and mobile apps.
• Optimize and improve current infrastructure design, identifying and rectifying any bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
• Ensure high availability, redundancy, and failover mechanisms for critical services.
• Implement containerization strategies using Docker and Kubernetes (or AWS ECS/EKS).
• Monitor and troubleshoot system performance, application uptime, and security vulnerabilities.
• Manage databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) with backup and recovery strategies.
• Work closely with developers to ensure smooth API integrations, performance tuning, and debugging deployment issues.
• Enforce security best practices, including IAM roles, VPCs, encryption, and API gateway security.
• Stay updated with AWS services, DevOps tools, and best practices to continuously improve our cloud architecture.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or similar role.
• Strong expertise in AWS services, including EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFront, Lambda, ECS/EKS, IAM, and API Gateway.
• Proficiency in CI/CD tools, with hands-on experience in Codemagic, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline.
• Expertise in infrastructure automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized application deployments.
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar) for automation tasks.
• Experience with monitoring and logging using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Datadog.
• Knowledge of network security, VPC design, and IAM best practices.
• Familiarity with Laravel and PHP application deployment best practices.
• Experience deploying and managing Flutter applications in production environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex system issues and optimize resource usage for cost efficiency.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with GraphQL APIs and WebSockets.
• Experience with multi-region AWS deployments and disaster recovery planning.
• Familiarity with serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, Step Functions).
• Previous experience in a fast-paced startup environment.

Schedule

• Must be willing to work Monday to Friday 9am-6pm Manila Time
